Division 3 Recap and Party & All-Star Info
Hi Blue Crabs!
Wow! We had an amazing day to cap off our undefeated season! The Blue Crabs are FSSL Division 3 Champions and we can’t wait to celebrate at our end of season party! The meet results are available here and you can check out photos from the meet here. This email contains a recap of the division championship meet, details on our end of season party, and some information about the All-Star Meet.
DIVISION 3 CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP
As it always does, our win today took a Village, and our 119 swimmers combined for an astounding 193 improved times (full list here)! We had 6 swimmers go undefeated in their individual events covering nearly every age group from young to old:
- 6 & Under: Madison Koehn
- 9-10: Maria Molina & Alberto Nevares
- 11-12: Carmen Nevares & Spencer Stanley
- 15-8: Andrew McDonald
It might look like our 13–14-year-olds were slacking, but that idea is far from the truth. Mason Garmon, Conner Stanley, and Elliot Voas combined to win every 13-14 event in today’s meet! Way to go boys!
But, wait… there’s more! We’ve been talking about that invincible boys freestyle relay team over the past few weeks and today they outdid themselves again! As best as we can tell Eric Yi, Alberto Nevares, Spencer Stanley, Mason Garmon, and Andrew McDonald not only set a new team record but, as best as we can tell, swam the fastest relay time in FSSL history! On top of that, Alberto Nevares set a league record all on his own with an amazing time of 15.05 in the Boys 9-10 25 Yard Backstroke race. You guys are amazing!
As good as the Blue Crabs were in the pool, we were even better out of it. We received compliment after compliment from the meet organizer about how much they appreciated the Blue Crabs. It had nothing to do with swimming but with our commitment to stepping in, helping out, and having fun. Because of the willingness of so many of you to serve, we had a great day: Timothy Koehn and his clerk of course takeover, Rae Kelly, Valerie Leitman, and Kim Davies labeling half of the meet’s ribbons, Brian Polesnak making sure everyone made it home safe, the Crab Daddys and their pop-up tailgating, all of our timers and officials (and especially our dynamic duo of Andy Garmon and Karyn McCannon) enduring the warm pool deck with a smile on their faces. This Blue Crabs community is something special.
Let’s have a party later to celebrate!
END OF SEASON PARTY DETAILS
We are looking forward to celebrating an incredible 2025 season with a pool party and awards ceremony tomorrow night! The pool will be open to the Blue Crabs from 4:30-6:50 PM and our awards ceremony will begin at around 7:00 PM.
We will be using the Blue Crab gate for entry. Please be sure to check in when you arrive. When you check in you will receive a blue envelope that contains your family’s ribbons, red volunteer raffle tickets you’ve earned over the season, blue Snowie tickets, and a Manhattan Pizza gift card for each swimmer.
We have a lot to celebrate and a lot of fun things planned for the evening.
- The pool will be closing on Sunday at 4:00 PM. It will re-open to the Blue Crabs ONLY for our pool party from 4:30-6:50 PM. Please do NOT arrive before 4:30 PM to allow us to get set-up for the party.
- After checking-in be sure to see our awesome raffle prizes donated by generous sponsors and the Blue Crabs, and then enter your red volunteer raffle tickets into the raffle boxes.
- During our time at the pool, we will be providing dinner from around 5:15-6:30. We will have pasta, pizza, and salad for dinner. The Blue Crabs will also be providing water, sodas, and juice.
- At 6:30 PM we will start transitioning out to the grass courtyard where we will be serving celebratory cake and you can redeem your tickets for a treat from Snowie.
- Our Awards Ceremony will take place after the pool closes in the courtyard, so please bring your own chairs or blankets to sit on.
- There will be awards and/or certificates handed out to all swimmers—Blue Crabs and Mini Crabs.
- We will also be handing out awards for high point achievers, most improved, and we’ll unveil our Old Bay Spirit and Hard Shell Crab awards.
- New swimmers will receive a Blue Crabs medal.
- All swimmers—new and returning—will receive a certificate.
- We are sorry to say that while we do have 2025 Blue Crabs pins for every swimmer, there was a delay in shipping and they won’t arrive until Monday. These will be available during all-star practices from 6-7 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this week. Please stop by to pick yours up!
- We love to recognize our volunteers, so be sure to stick around for our raffle drawings during the awards ceremony. The number of raffle tickets you receive is based upon the number of volunteer points you have accumulated over the course of the season. This is a small thank you to the many of you who have done so much to make this Blue Crabs season a success. You must be present to win!
We're looking forward to a fun evening celebrating a great season together!
