    Blue Crabs - Week 4

    Hi Blue Crabs!

Wow! What a fantastic Blue Crabs weekend?! Thank you to everyone who came out for our pep rally on Friday night (thanks to Katie Thomas, Linda Amato, Megan Brown for pulling it all together!), and a big congratulations to all of our swimmers who participated in our season opening meet. The weekend embodied everything we want to be about as a team and community.

    • Growth: our swimmers amassed a total of 194 improved times over their swims last year
    • Encouragement: accomplishments were celebrated, teammates were cheered on, and it was obvious to everyone that we were there for one another.
    • Service: The Crab Crew showed up! From all of our timers to everyone who helped set-up and take-down, from our officials and clerk of course parents to our coaches and everyone who helped out at the Crab Shack, as a community we came together, solved problems, met needs, and had a great time doing it.
    • Fun! All of this amounted to just having a fun time together as a community. The sun was shining, neighbors were getting to know each other better, the Crab Shack was rocking, families were laughing and cheering, amounting to a super start to our summer season.

So, thanks to everyone for the part you played to make yesterday’s meet such a success. I am grateful we get to do all of this together. You can view the complete meet results here and you view photos from the meet here (these are also available by clicking “Meets & Events” in our website menu).

This email contains a list of Swimmer Shout-Outs, our meet this coming week, and our practice schedule as school wraps up.

    OUR FIRST AWAY MEET

This Saturday we will be swimming against the Frederick YMCA Tidal Force. Fortunately, we don’t have to travel far as the meet will be held at the Y right here in Urbana. We are still waiting on the Y to confirm some details about the meet, but we know the meet will begin at 8 AM with swimmers arriving by 7:10 AM to check-in and warm-up. One thing to note about the Y is that we will be swimming indoors and their pool is 25 yards, not meters like ours.

Our team theme this week will be Blue Everything, so come decked-out in your Blue Crab best!

***Whether or not you are going to make the meet, please declare whether your Blue Crabs swimmer is attending or not attending the meet by clicking on the green “Meet Entry” button on this page. The deadline to do this is10:00 PM on Tuesday, 6/16 in order to participate in the meet. Even if you are not attending on Saturday, please complete this process by Tuesday. Thank you!

Crab Crew Sign-Up: We have a just TWO spots left for this Saturday's meet. They are for "automation." There are no special skills needed for this task—all you really need to be able to do is count to 10, something that most of us shouldn't have trouble with. You can sign up here to help out. Thank you!
