    Blue Crabs - Week 9

    Hi Blue Crabs!

We’re still amazed that we got this morning’s meet in! The storm that immediately followed was the Christmas in July present we didn't ask for, but we were all out of there with the pool deck put back together enjoying AC and cleaner air by the time the storm rolled in.

Thank you to everyone who helped today! There were so many people who did so much to make this meet happen—from the Crab Shack to timers, from officials to heat winners, from set-up to take-down—but two people certainly deserve special mention: Tim Koehn and Thiha Thant. These two dads might just be two of the best clerks of course the FSSL has ever seen. They’re so good that they be teaching a course next year on how to be the best clerk of course. They kept volunteers and swimmers organized and with their behind-the-scenes work allowed us to finish the meet nearly 1hr ahead of time. Thank you Thiha and Tim!

For our first time in Division 2, the Blue Crabs showed up strong finishing 2nd out of 4 teams with 399 points! Congratulations to FCY on their victory with 427 pts and to our other competitors, RSST (377 pts) and Spring Ridge (289 pts). You can see the full results from the meet here and check out photos from the meet here.

Our season has formally concluded for most swimmers. Only all-star qualifiers will be practicing this week (see the full list here). However, next Sunday, July 26, is our end-of-season party (details below) and all of our swimmers from Mini Crabs on up are invited. Keep reading for swimmer shout-outs, all-star meet details, and important information for our end-of-season party!

    SWIMMER SHOUT-OUTS

The Blue Crabs did not mess around today! There were outstanding swims all around, but a handful deserve special attention. Amir Hussein (15-18 Boys), Madison Koehn (7-8 Girls), Carmen Nevares (13-14 Girls), and Miles Thomas (7-8 Boys) won all three of their individual events, scoring the team 21 points a piece! In addition to these four, we had outstanding point contributions from the following swimmers who all scored double digits for the Blue Crabs: Roman Gonzalez (19 pts), Alberto Nevares (19 pts), Eric Yi (19 pts), Ava Cecilia (18 pts), Spencer Stanley (17 pts), Knox Kauflin (14 pts), Conner Stanley (14 pts), Cole Taylor (14 pts), Reese Douty (12 pts), Callie Carr (11 pts), Griffin Herzfeld (11 pts), and Lucas Chang (10 pts). Congratulations to these swimmers and all the Blue Crabs!

We also saw four team records set during the meet. Congratulations to Amir Hussein (15-18 - 100 IM; 100 free), Carmen Nevares (13-14 - 100 free), and the relay team of Alberto Nevares, Roman Gonzalez, Maria Molina, Olivia Yi (11-12 Medley Relay).

    END OF SEASON PARTY

We are looking forward to celebrating an incredible 2026 season with a pool party and awards ceremony on Sunday, July 26. If you have yet to RSVP, please RSVP here by Tuesday night! The Blue Crabs will be providing dinner for swimmers and their parents, as well as the swimmer’s siblings.

We will be using the Blue Crab gate for entry. Please be sure to check-in when you arrive. Upon arrival you will receive a blue envelope that contains your family’s ribbons (if they have not been picked up) and your red volunteer raffle tickets for the points you’ve earned over the season.

We have a lot to celebrate and a lot of fun things planned for the evening.

    • The pool will be closing on Sunday at 4:00 PM. It will re-open to the Blue Crabs ONLY for our pool party from 4:30-6:50 PM. Please do NOT arrive before 4:30 PM to allow us to get set-up for the party.
    • After checking-in be sure to see our awesome raffle prizes donated by generous sponsors and the Blue Crabs, and then enter your red volunteer raffle tickets into the raffle boxes.
    • During our time at the pool, we will be providing dinner from around 5:15-6:30. We will have pasta, pizza, and salad for dinner. The Blue Crabs will also be providing water, sodas, and juice.
    • At 6:30 PM we will start transitioning out to the grass courtyard where dessert will be available.
    • Our Awards Ceremony will take place after the pool closes. We are going to use the grass courtyard for this portion of our evening, so please bring your own chairs or blankets to sit on.
    • There will be awards and/or certificates handed out to all swimmers—Blue Crabs and Mini Crabs.
      • We will also be handing out awards for high point achievers, most improved, and our Old Bay Spirit and Hard Shell Crab awards.
      • New swimmers will receive a Blue Crabs medal.
      • Returning swimmers should bring their Blue Crabs medal to add this year’s pin. Replacement medals can be purchased here.
      • All swimmers—new and returning—will receive a certificate and a 2026 Blue Crabs pin for their participation on the team.
    • We love to recognize our volunteers, so be sure to stick around for our raffle drawings during the awards ceremony. The number of raffle tickets you receive is based upon the number of volunteer points you have accumulated over the course of the season. This is a small thank you to the many of you who have done so much to make this Blue Crabs season a success. You must be present to win!

We're looking forward to a fun evening celebrating a great season together!
